Smart Links - Drip

Dynamically send your contacts to different landing/thank you pages based on criteria you define. It also combines the functionality of Action Links and allows you to apply a tag to contacts based on that same criteria.

Smart Links Configuration Options

First Rule Setup

In this section, you will find the options for building your Smart Links tool. Follow along in your PlusThis app, or by viewing the numbered step in the screenshots.

Step 1: Redirect your contact to the following address:

Enter the URL that you would like your contact sent to if they meet the criteria you set up for this Rule.

Step 2: Apply a tag to the contact when this rule is met?

By default this option is set to "No". If you would like to apply a tag when this rule is met, switch this toggle over to "Yes" and select the tag that you would like to apply.

Step 3: Add a New Condition Group

a: If you would like to add a new condition, click the button and select one of

the following where you'll pick what your conditions are for meeting this rule.
- Condition based on: Field Value
- Condition based on: Tags
- Condition based on: Email Status
- Condition based on: Date
- Condition based on: Number of records with a tag

Condition based on: field Value

Step 1: Condition (field based value)

Select the field you would like to evaluate in this condition.

Step 2: Operator

Select the operator that you would like to use to evaluate the field.

Step 3: Value

Enter the value that you would like to use in tandem with the operator to evaluate the field

Step 4: What to do next?

You have three options for next steps:

a: If you would like to add a new condition, click the button and select one of the

following where you'll pick what your conditions are for meeting this rule. :
- Condition based on: Field Value
- Condition based on: Tags
- Condition based on: Email Status
- Condition based on: Date
- Condition based on: Number of records with a tag

b: If you would like to create a new Rule (ie, another URL to send people to), click

the "New Rule +" button.

c: If you are finished creating and configuring Rules and would like to finish set

up of the tool, follow the instructions for Fallback Settings & Save

Condition based on: tags

Step 1: Condition (tag based)

In the drop-down, select if you would like to check if the contact has/doesn't have the tag in the next selector.

Step 2: Tag select

In the drop-down, select the tag that you would like to check.

Step 3: What to do next?

You have three options for next steps:

a: If you would like to add a new condition, click the button and select one of the

following where you'll pick what your conditions are for meeting this rule. :
- Condition based on: Field Value
- Condition based on: Tags
- Condition based on: Email Status
- Condition based on: Date
- Condition based on: Number of records with a tag

b: If you would like to create a new Rule (ie, another URL to send people to), click

the "New Rule +" button.

c: If you are finished creating and configuring Rules and would like to finish set

up of the tool, follow the instructions for Fallback Settings & Save

Step 1: Condition (email status based)

In the drop-down, select the email status that you would like to check for.

Step 2: What to do next?

You have three options for next steps:

a: If you would like to add a new condition, click the button and select one of the

following where you'll pick what your conditions are for meeting this rule. :
- Condition based on: Field Value
- Condition based on: Tags
- Condition based on: Email Status
- Condition based on: Date
- Condition based on: Number of records with a tag

b: If you would like to create a new Rule (ie, another URL to send people to), click

the "New Rule +" button.

c: If you are finished creating and configuring Rules and would like to finish set

up of the tool, follow the instructions for Fallback Settings & Save

Condition based on: Date

Step 1: Condition (date based)

Select the time condition that you would like to compare when the Smart Link is clicked against.

Step 2: The date from where?

Select from the drop-down, where you would like to get the date from.

Step 3: Based on where you picked to get the date from, the configurations of step 3 may look slightly different. Fill out/pick the options provided based on your date selection.

Step 4: What to do next?

You have three options for next steps:

a: If you would like to add a new condition, click the button and select one of the

following where you'll pick what your conditions are for meeting this rule. :
- Condition based on: Field Value
- Condition based on: Tags
- Condition based on: Email Status
- Condition based on: Date
- Condition based on: Number of records with a tag

b: If you would like to create a new Rule (ie, another URL to send people to), click

the "New Rule +" button.

c: If you are finished creating and configuring Rules and would like to finish set

up of the tool, follow the instructions for Fallback Settings & Save

Condition based on: Number of records with a tag

Step 1: Select tag to count

In the drop-down, select which tag you want to count.

Step 2: If the number of people with the selected tag is...

In the drop-down, select the inequality that you would like to use to evaluate the number of people with the tag.

Step 3: ...this amount

Enter the # you would like the inequality to evaluate against.

Step 4: What to do next?

You have three options for next steps:

a: If you would like to add a new condition, click the button and select one of

the following where you'll pick what your conditions are for meeting this rule.:
- Condition based on: Field Value
- Condition based on: Tags
- Condition based on: Email Status
- Condition based on: Date
- Condition based on: Number of records with a tag

b: If you would like to create a new Rule (ie, another URL to send people to),

click the "New Rule +" button.

c: If you are finished creating and configuring Rules and would like to finish set

up of the tool, follow the instructions for Fallback Settings & Save

New Rule +

Step 1: Redirect your person to the following address:

Enter the URL that you would like your person sent to if they meet the criteria you set up for this Rule.

Step 2: Apply a tag to the person when this rule is met?

By default this option is set to "No". If you would like to apply a tag when this rule is met, switch this toggle over to "Yes" and select the tag that you would like to apply.

Step 3: Add a New Condition Group

If you would like to add a new condition, click the button and select one of the following where you'll pick what your conditions are for meeting this rule.:
- Condition based on: Field Value
- Condition based on: Tags
- Condition based on: Email Status
- Condition based on: Date
- Condition based on: Number of records with a tag

Fallback Settings & Save

Step 1: Fallback URL (if no rules are met)

Enter a URL for your people to be sent to if none of the above configured rules are met.

Step 2: Apply a tag if none of the rules are met

By default, this toggle will be set to "No", however, if you would like to apply a tag when someone is sent to the fallback URL (ie. No rules are met), then switch this toggle over to "yes" and select which tag you would like applied.

Step 3: Pass person details to page

By default, this toggle is set to "Yes". If you do not want to pass the person details through the Smart Link to the final page, switch this toggle to "No".

Step 4: Tool Name

Enter a name for your tool in this field. The name is solely for use inside of PlusThis, and will not be visible to customers.

Implementation Types

Hyperlink

Hyperlink the Smart Link to text in your emails to redirect subscribers to different pages depending on credentials in their record.

Step 1:

Copy the Tool URL From the ‘Usage & Instructions’ page.

Step 2: Open the email you would like to place the Smart Link in.

Step 3: Highlight the text you’d like to hyperlink the Smart Link to, and click the Link icon in the tool bar above.

Step 4: Paste in the Smart Link URL and Save.

Thank You Page

Use the Smart Link as a thank you page URL to redirect subscribers to different pages depending on their subscriber record.

Step 1: Copy the Tool URL From the ‘Usage & Instructions’ page.

Step 2: Open your Drip Webform in the Forms area of your account.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Post-Signup’ tab in the settings. Change the ‘Custom Post-Submission Page’ to your Smart Link URL.

Step 4: Check the ‘Redirect to a post-submission page after the widget is submitted’, and ‘Send person data to post-submission page’ box below the URL.

SMS

Add the Smart Link to an SMS message to redirect subscribers to different pages depending on credentials in their record.

Step 1: Copy the Tool URL from the ‘Usage & Instructions’ page.

Step 2: Open the SMS tool you’d like to place the Smart Link in.

Step 3: Paste the link in the body of the SMS Message.

Step 4: IMPORTANT: Do not shorten the link if you are placing this in an SMS message - this will cause the link to not work.

Image

Hyperlink the Smart Link to an image in your emails to redirect subscribers to different pages depending on credentials in their record.

Step 1: On the Usage and Instructions page, copy the Smart Link under the ‘For use in Drip Emails’ tab. Open the Drip email builder, and open the email you’d like to add the Smart Link to.

Step 2: Mouse over the section you’d like to add the image to, and click ‘Add Content’. Select ‘Image’ from the add content menu.

Step 3: Paste the Smart Link URL in the ‘Link’ option on the left hand side.
